i'm taking my boyfriend to lunch
Tony was sure his shrieking could be heard down the street, but he couldn't care about it. He'd never been more furious in his life. The decision to quit, to cut himself off from the people who had been hurting him since the day he was born had been an intensely personal and emotional thing. He couldn't count the nights he'd cried into Roddie's shoulder, the times he'd been full of doubt, on the verge of taking it all back, and just the moment he was starting to be sure that it was better like this, they drag him back in.
Kidnapping, honestly. The worst part about it was how it wasn't totally unfounded--he hadn't been in contact with anyone from Earth since he'd quit, but he'd been busy. Not to mention his parents had conveniently forgotten to show the police the video he'd sent them after he'd quit, claiming he wanted time to himself, away from them, because he was old enough to live his own life.
Of course, Tony had a copy of the video, along with delivery confirmations and records, receipts and logs of every single stop they'd made in the last few months. Stockholm syndrome, they'd said, and Tony had dug up the letter he'd sent requesting the job in the first place, along with half a year's worth of consistently happy, well-adjusted journal entries that were far too detailed to be faked.
"I'm twenty-four damn years old! If I say I'm not being kidnapped, then I'm not being kidnapped!" Tony was yelling, slamming a fist down on the huge file of evidence he'd brought himself. He was angry, and he just wanted his friends to be safe and he wanted to finally be away from his parents' unrelenting grip.
"Yeah, that's right you're releasing them immediately," Tony snarled, following the officer back to the cells where his friends were locked up. His hair was a mess, his uniform open and flapping against his chest, showing his thin undershirt beneath it, and his expression was murderous.

He'd been sitting with the others, sulking; Zakeef was convinced they were all going to jail, and despite Vira's insistence that they stay positive, Roddie's optimism had been quickly fading. The claims made sense, sort of, more and moreso in his head as he continued to dwell on it, and with the Federation watching and waiting for him to make a mistake, he had been starting to wonder if there was enough evidence to prove he was innocent.
Then he sees Tony, approaching them with eyes blazing, and he can't tell by the look on his face whether he's bringing him good news or bad news, and he's too apprehensive to ask.
"Hey," he says instead.

"Let them go," Tony says, pointing to the locked door, "Now." The officer starts and then fumbles with his keys, dropping them once before managing to get the door unlocked. It's not until the jail cell door creaks open that Tony looks up, meets Roddie's eyes through the bars, the glances at Vira, Zakeef and Boscha, ensuring they're all right. Then he turns his attention back on the officer, who has now been joined by the main detective Tony has been screaming at for the past hour.
"We are leaving," he says, glaring up at the officer despite how far he has to crane his neck to look at his face, "And if you try to stop us I will just add it to the already fantastically long list of evidence for my civil lawsuit." The officer and the detective scitter out of the way, and Tony turns back to his friends.
"It's time to go."

Roddie cautiously falls in step beside Tony on the way to where his ship has been impounded, walking with his hands shoved into his pockets.
"You...okay?" he asks.
no subject
"No, Roddie, I'm not okay," Tony says lowly, so that no one else can hear, "I decided to step away, and that was my choice, and that was fine. If they had-- If they had stolen me, that would have been fine. But they--" Tony stopped, clenching his teeth and grabbing Roddie's arm, halting in his brisk walk to turn towards Roddie, "They took my friends, Roddie. My... My family," he whispers the last word, releasing Roddie's arm to scrub at his face, "And that is unacceptable."

"Well, you got us back, right?" he says. He tries to look him in the eyes as he says this, but finds himself averting his eyes again as he continues speaking. He can feel his face and neck growing slightly hot, much to his dismay, and he tugs at the collar of his jacket. "I mean...if you hadn't put up a fight like you did, they probably would have locked me up like I know they've been dying to. So you're kind of like...my hero, right now, honestly. What did you even say to them?"
no subject
"I-- I just told them the truth," Tony said, slightly bewildered, "And I brought evidence--did you say hero?"
no subject
"Well, yeah, you kind of just saved my ass. All our asses. They would have come after us eventually for something. Your dad - all those people who were involved in the coverup, really - they weren't happy about what I did, and they definitely weren't happy that I got to walk after. You bet they'd have come after us for something else, whether or not your parents got involved, but getting your vote of confidence is going to keep us out of trouble for a long time. And, I mean...those are your parents. I wasn't sure you were going to be able to stick up for us to those guys they sent, but you did, and man. That's super brave," he stops talking long enough to give a forlorn little laugh. "I mean. Your dad is terrifying, babe."
tony stark was able to build this in a cave
"I didn't... I never even thought about that stuff. I was just--pissed off that they would even try..." Tony feels his ire returning, though he'd been shocked out of it for a moment, "I'm done with being terrified of them," Tony spits, cutting his hand through the air, "I won't be scared and I won't let them hurt the people I love. Not anymore." Tony realizes he's perheaps speaking too loudly again, breathing hard from his outburst, so he takes a deep breath.
Re: tony stark was able to build this in a cave
"I'm...glad. That you feel that way," he says, too stiffly, shoving his hands back into his pockets and trying to keep his emotions more situationally appropriate.
Re: tony stark was able to build this in a cave
"Yeah..." he says softly, feeling the adrenaline draining from his body and leaving him tired. On impulse he steps into Roddie's space, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and burying his face in his neck, "I'm glad you're all right."
Re: tony stark was able to build this in a cave
He's too ashamed to hug him back. Instead, he plants his face into Tony's shoulder and swears.
Re: tony stark was able to build this in a cave
"Oh my god, are you--?" Tony jerks back, keeping his hands on Roddie's shoulders as he looks down between them, stunned, "You are!" Tony looks back up at Roddie's face, gaping at him. Suddenly this whole situation seems hilarious, and Tony fights a smile off his face.
"Why are you hard?" Tony asks, lowering his voice to a whisper.
with a box of scraps
"I don't know!" Roddie hisses, keeping his voice as low as he could manage. His face was burning, and he felt like he might choke. "I just haven't heard you talk like that before!"
Re: with a box of scraps
"That works for you?" Tony says, leaning over to whisper in Roddie's ear, "Me getting mad and storming in to save you for once?" Tony leans back to look into Roddie's eyes, smirking.
Re: with a box of scraps
"I guess so, shut up!" he says. He guesses he deserves this, after all the times he's teased and flirted with Tony in public just to see him squirm.
im taking my boyfriend to lunch
"Come on," he says, continuing his brisk walk up to the ship, pulling Roddie past the others, "I'm taking my boyfriend for some much-needed rest and we will not be disturbed." Tony didn't release Roddie's hand until they were inside the ship, not far from Roddie's quarters, and then it was only so he could turn and cup Roddie's face in his hands and kiss him soundly.
Re: im taking my boyfriend to lunch
"That - that sounds good. That sounds really good," he says.
Re: im taking my boyfriend to lunch
Tony was a little surprised by how much he liked this, liked to be the one to make Roddie squirm for a change. In his past relationships Tony had always taken the more submissive roll, more because his partners expected him to than through any conscious choice of his own. He enjoyed having Roddie in the driver's seat, but it felt good to know that the attraction between them was so mirrored. (God only knew how many times Tony had been driven to distraction by the things Roddie did and said.)

"God, I was so worried you'd be angry," Tony says, working his hands up over Roddie's ribage, pushing up his shirt, "So this--" one of his hands dips back down, cupping the bulge at the front of Roddie's pants, "--Is a very pleasant surprise."
Re: im taking my boyfriend to lunch
He can't help but roll his hips against the palm of Tony's hand, and he hurriedly pulls his shirt over his head and begins working at the clasp of Tony's pants, and then, once he's gotten Tony's unfastened, on his own.
Re: im taking my boyfriend to lunch
"It's not important," Tony murmurs, already forgetting what they'd been talking about, pushing his underwear down his legs so he could tilt his hips into Roddie's. He wrapped one hand around both of their erections, jerking them together and sighing into Roddie's neck.
"You're so hard, Roddie," Tony breaths, turning his head to kiss at Roddie's shoulder and neck.
Re: im taking my boyfriend to lunch
"Yeah, well," he groans, his voice beginning to waver slightly, "You do that to me."
Re: im taking my boyfriend to lunch
"I wanna fuck you," Tony whispers into Roddie's ear, then licked the shell of his ear and sucked on his earlobe.
Re: im taking my boyfriend to lunch
He slides his slowly back down the wall until they're both seated on the ground, kicking one leg out of his pants, which had still been hanging down around his ankles. He stretches his legs out in front of him, placing one on either side of Tony, and grips Tony's shirt for stability.
